Lawn Care

Not all lawn care programs are created equal:

  • We use a combination of professional grade granular fertilizers containing slow release nitrogen to get longer lasting results for your lawn. Liquid fertilizer applications tend to cause quick growth spurts and need to be applied more frequently than slow release granular applications.
  • Broadleaf weed control is achieved throughout all of our applications using a blend of pre-emergent granules during the early spring application and post emergent liquid weed control during the remaining applications.
  • In order to reduce the amount of chemicals added to the environment we follow the recommended lawn care calendar put forth by the UW-Horticulture Extension office. All products are regulated by the EPA and/or WIDATCP.
  • All products are child and pet safe when applied in accordance with label specifications. Liquid applications generally take 2-4 hours to dry
  • Avoid mowing for a minimum of 2 days following any application.

Early Spring (March-May)

  • Crabgrass preventer and season long pre-emergent control of grass and broadleaf weeds
  • For those that plan on overseeding before fall, please inform us prior to the first application so we don’t put the pre-emergent down, we will instead use a slow release fertilizer that will not harm germination.

Late Spring (May-June)

  • Slow release granular fertilizer and broadleaf weed control
  • For customers with irrigation or those planning to water throughout summer, during this time it is acceptable to overseed areas thin or bare spots in the lawn but you should wait until fall to do a full lawn overseed

Early Summer (July)

  • Slow release granular fertilizer and spot treatment of broadleaf weeds as well as post emergent crabgrass control
  • This is the optimal time to apply preventative grub control products, can be found in our add on service section
  • Customers that received the early spring crabgrass preventer will have post emergent control included with this application. For those customers that skip the crabgrass preventer we will apply up to 3 gallons of post emergent crabgrass control. This is generally enough to cover the edges of driveways and sidewalks where crabgrass germination is most prevalent. Additional crabgrass control can be done for an additional fee.
  • For customers that did not have the pre-emergent applied in the spring, we can still do post emergent control but will need to charge a separate fee due to the cost of the product.

Late Summer (August-September)

  • Slow release granular fertilizer and spot treatment of broadleaf weeds
  • Early September is the opportune time for fall overseeding as well as applying any curative grub control products if you missed the July preventative window. Both of these can be found in our add on service section

Fall (September-November)

  • Slow release granular fertilizer and full lawn broadleaf weed control
  • Fall is the optimal time for broadleaf weed control and to add nutrients to the root zone of your lawn before winter dormancy
  • Fall is also the best time for aeration, which can be done up until the ground freezes. To find out more about aeration visit our add on service section
